The Vintage Residency 2023 with Bebe Miller

The Vintage – Ceist Residency / Dance Cork Firkin Crane April – 2023 

The Vintage had a second Ceist Residency at Dance Cork Firkin Crane in April 2023. This residency focussed on a week’s intensive mentorship with the US dance artist Bebe Miller. This was a joy and a privilege – Miller is one of the defining choreographic voices of her generation, especially in relation to improvisation and collaboration (both central to the work of The Vintage). Still performing and touring in her seventies, Miller’s choreographic enquiries couple with feminism, race and identity politics in resonant and powerful ways. We worked closely with Miller on developing our improvisatory and collaborative practice, with particular focus on Miller’s ‘Hero / Attendant’ strategies.
