Jools Gilson has made work for national and international galleries and public spaces since 1996. This work has sometimes involved live presence, but is more often developed with and for communities. The Knitting Map (Berman Museum of Art 2021) was made with a community of more than 2000 knitters over a calendar year (2005). Unveiled Horizons (2017) was a collaboration with photographer Carl Cordonnier / Daily Life and involved close work with six women with a connection to the Port of Cork. The Lios (2004) was a collaboration with a rural community in East Cork. Other works include Underbreath (2002) and the digital art work mouthplace (1997). Exhibiting spaces include The Glucksman, Crawford Art Gallery and the Triskel in Cork, the Institute for Contemporary Arts in London, the Berman Museum of Art in Pennsylvania as well as festivals in Canada, Spain, Brazil, the US and others.
